Giving Interns Community Project Experience

It felt great to be able to take a young Indigenous undergraduate architect Tahlia Steadman, with me on a trip to a community housing project in Moree.  Tahlia is undertaking a CareerTrackers Internship with AECOM Australia.

The NSW Aboriginal Housing Office has engaged Jabin to manage the Moree Housing Project which is building # houses. Given Jabin extensive relationships with AECOM, it was a perfect opportunity for Tahlia to be exposed to a real-life project involving both the community and key project stakeholders.

The short trip allows Tahlia to experience the nature of small scale community projects and how the projects positively impact its residents. It showcases options for how Tahlia might return to her community and be able to use her qualifications to give something back.

It’s all came about making connections and Jabin looks forward to doing more of this in the future.

A big thank you also goes to Lloyd Munro into the project and a tour of his town.
